Because of the rain I lost several seedlings as I go to work and then it pours on them and I come home to flooded seed trays. Then the damping off sets in and they all die. I am in the process of solving that problem with a large grow light setup which I will be putting together in the near future. This will be kept inside so I won't have to rely on the weather which is unreliable to start with.
I have been able to get a few things going though and here are a few pics.
First the fruit trees on the side of the house have loved all the rain. Wow has this Carambola tree really taken off!! Also the Avocado in the center has added a lot of growth compared to last year.
The Papaya are really doing well, too. A few have come up where a fruit had fallen off and rotted.
Here are the Pineapple in containers. We already ate a few and four more will be ready soon.
Green Beans and Eggplant in this bed with the beans getting ready to bloom. The Eggplant has had numerous blooms but so far they have all fallen off. Maybe it is because of all the rain.
Next we have some Tomatoes. These are determinate plants of the slicing variety.
Butternut Squash is really blooming in the next bed. They put out a ton of female flowers at first and then about two weeks later the males started blooming so I think they are now getting pollinated.
Next we have Broccoli and Radishes. The Broccoli I bought from Lowes one day since I didn't have any started. The Radishes are direct seeded.
And finally we have Cucumbers. The smaller vines are a couple weeks younger than the big vines. I am trying to stagger plants more this year to keep the harvest coming instead of all at once.
Now that it is looking like dry weather will be on the way I need to finish prepping more beds and really get things rolling along.
