February 27 update

It's only been 10 days since my last update but a I have a few things going on and things seem to be growing a little faster since Summer somehow is already here.  Let's jump in and see what we have.

The sweet onions are growing a lot faster now that they are getting more sun. This area gets a lot of shade from the avocado tree in the winter time.

Here are the Fordhook Lima beans. They didn't germinate very well. I think that even though it has been warm for this time of the year, the cool nights keep the soil a little too cool for these. They supposedly like a lot of warmth to grow well. This is my first time trying them.

Here is the next crop of Pack Man broccoli and cucumbers germinating from seed. The cucumbers I planted a few weeks ago germinated then died as I posted in a previous post. Hopefully these will do better. The broccoli will be planted as I harvest the lettuce.

The Pak Choi is growing much better now that it has been thinned and spread out along with the red and green butter head lettuce. I am looking forward to trying the purple Pak Choi since it looks so different.

Purple Pak Choi in a pot.

Red and Green Butter Head lettuce.

The Celebrity tomatoes are coming along nicely. They all have blooms forming on them.

Here is the Beef Master tomato. We have gotten several huge tomatoes off of it and it doesn't seem to want to slow down.

The green beans are really taking off. The bed with the previous broccoli crop in the back ground has all been harvested. I am planning on planting purple beans there tomorrow.

The next crop of Pack Man broccoli doing well. I just steamed the last of the last crop this afternoon. I think I'm getting a little better at succession planting to keep things coming.

I am surprised at how many blueberries these little bushes have on them. As they ripen we have been eating them and they are really tasty.

A shot of one of the sweet banana pepper plants with a fully ripe pepper. First they turn yellow. Then orange. Then finally red when fully ripe.

One of the Big Berthe bells turning red and almost fully ripe.

More Black Beauty eggplant fruiting. I was worried a little when I first planted them because there was still a good chance of frost and cold doing damage to them but I lucked out and it looks like we will be frying eggplant early this year.

Another shot of the pepper / eggplant bed. The one hot pepper to the right is just full of blooms.

Finally here is my Florida King peach tree beginning to flower pretty good. I am just hoping we get a good crop. They are supposed to need around 200 to 250 chill hours but there is no way we got that this year. We'll see.
