Hello everyone!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

This blog is a chronicle of my adventures, successes and failures at  trying to lead a more self sufficient life here in SW Florida. I developed an interest in vegetable gardening years ago while working in the produce dept.at a local grocery store. My original garden began as six 8 x 12 raised beds which I placed in our backyard. For several years I played around with these and got pretty good results but was never really serious about it. Never the less we enjoyed the things I grew and I was amazed at how much better things tasted straight from the garden compared to what we sold at the grocery store.

Fast forward to last year when I got the All New Square Foot Gardening book and decided to get serious about turning my typical suburban weed fest into a green plot of production. I borrowed a lot of the basics from the book and added my own twists here and there and got great results. Now on to the task of trying to grow as much of what we eat as I can and move into preserving the harvest.

Here are a few pics of last years garden:

More about the garden this year in my next post.
